And I thought to myself, "those could go with my sailboat I have in the bathroom." But what to do with the ugly design on them?
Sand it off, of course!
After sanding, I thought they looked to smooth. So I beat them up... 
And since the color was hideous, I stained them a walnut color.
What do you think?

Those are fantastic! I never would have thought to sand and stain the cheapy wood from the dollar store... DUH! Great idea and they look great with the shells and boat.
