I posted a DIY lantern tutorial yesterday. Today, after finding the perfect Mason Jar at our thrift store, I wanted to make one. I looked high and low for our heavy duty wire, but couldn't find it, so I had to use what I had... floral wire. I tried to follow the tutorial's directions, but in the end, I did it my way.
I hung the jar next to two other lanterns (thrift store finds) I had on hand.
CUTE! Maybe I will make some more.
Very cool! I love love love Mason jars! I would use them for everything if I could. Great job! And I love the other lanterns next to it!
ReplyDeleteThese would look so great outside on a Spring/Summer evening. Great job!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I love this. I have a ton of mason jars and a giant deck that needs lighting! What a wonderful project too....I have to try this!

I made a bunch of these last summer for an outside party that got rained out and ended up hanging them from my porch on Halloween. They were cool. It's where my idea for the candles in the jars for our dinner stemmed from. I've seen a lot around blogland at outdoor weddings (down the aisle) and stuff--I love them.
ReplyDeleteI had flimsy wire too and it held up through wind and snow storms--so well that the jars would fill with water, freeze, and the jars would break before the wire came off. Good thing I used old junk jars.
Lucky you too, finding a big blue one. That was seriously at DI? I've never seen blue jars there--that's awesome! Was it a lot cheaper than $10? That's the cheapest I've ever seen the big blue jars at antique stores.
